Eso es lo que dicen en http://archives.free.net.ph/message/20051221.141103.1240eec8.en.html después de comprobar que los reproductores iRiver nuevos (T10, T20, T30) no funcionan como USB Mass Storage y por tanto no se pueden usar en Linux ni en Mac, sólo con el WMP 10. Yo me regalé un T30 sin saberlo, ayer lo devolví y ahora estoy buscando también.

Después de ver los comentarios sobre la buena calidad de los modelos de Samsung me puse a buscar y encontré unos cuantos. Por tratarse de un fabricante bastante fácil de encontrar en varios sectores me llevé la agradable sorpresa de que incluso aquí (Santa Cruz de Tenerife) podía conseguir el modelo YP-F1 por unos €155 en varias tiendas de la zona céntrica de la ciudad.

Sin embargo, ese modelo no me gustó porque la batería dura poco (10 horas) y el conector que utiliza para todo es difícil de conseguir, creo que de hecho no es estándar.

Al final me acabo de comprar un YP-U1Z en eBay por £81, unos €120, incluído gastos de envío (£10). Después de ver los precios en tiendas española, debería estar contento.

Sin embargo, acabo de encontrar que el modelo YP-U1 incluye en sus requerimiento WMP 9 ó 10 y DirectX 8. En otro sitio he visto que lo marcan explícitamente como "Linux non-compatible" aunque sea compatible con Mac OS X, seguramente instalando el WMP 9 para Mac OS X. Me estoy temiendo que voy a tener el mismo problema que con el iRiver T30.

Por otra parte, el manual de Samsung[1] dice literalmente "Cuando el reproductor MP3 este conectado a la computadora, la computadora lo vera como un disco extraíble", así que parece haber esperanzas. Ya no sé qué pensar.

Por favor, ¿alguien puede confirmar si funciona en Linux o no? Gracias.

Por otra parte me gustaría saber si alguien conoce un mp3 de 1Gb que lea Ogg y tenga radio FM, porque sólo he encontrado el de iRives pero ese no va con linux y utiliza una pila AA como batería (además de los 200€)

Sí, funciona. Viene de fábrica con la batería descargada y hay que dejarlo conectado un par de horas hasta que diga en la pantallita que ya está cargado, pero en cuanto lo conecté al puerto USB para cargar la batería ¡funcionó como disco USB!

En la caja dice que necesita WMP 9 ó 10, al contrario que el iRiver que dice que necesita el 10 y lo trae en el CD. Posiblemente la compatibilidad con WMP 9 sea indicio de que funcione con Linux, pero no hasta qué punto tienen relación ambas compatibilidades (WMP9/Linux).

El caso es que funciona, y me alegro muchísimo porque no voy a tener que revenderlo como me temía. Por cierto, lo compré en eBay (en UK) por unos €120 (envío incluído), así que no está tan caro.

Otro aparato con muy buena pinta es el Cowon iAudio U2 (y algunos hermanos suyos), pero además de ser más caro no trae el soporte Ogg de fábrica, sino que hay que actualizarle el firmware y no sé si ese nuevo firmware está publicado ya.

Bueno, al final en lugar de comprarme el YP-U1Z (125€ en pixmania) me han regalado el iAudio U2 1Gb (150€ en Fnac). No he probado otros, pero es una pasada, http://eng.iaudio.com/ lleva de todo. Bueno, he leído algún foro, y se decía que tiene poca potencia, yo no sé lo que es poca potencia pero tiene 40 de volumen, y a 20 en casa no escucho si me hablan a 1metro, no lo he podido poner a 40 pq me duelen los oidos... Así que fuerza tiene. No hay que actualizar firmware para ejcuchar ogm, ya de fábrica lo lee, pero te recomiendan actualizar porque mejora el rendimiento y kita errores.

Lee de todo, tiene 20 horas de batería (Samsung 13 ó 10), tiene 24 presintonías de fm, el de samsung no tiene fm... se carga por USB o por cargador (si te lo compras)... el sonido es muy bueno.
Y tiene detalles... viene con dos láminas de plástico para ponerle a la pantalla, para que no se raye. ah, pesa 33G y es del tamaño de un mechero. y va con batería, que se carga en 2h (o 6, como prefieras)

En fin... que estoy contento de momento. Por supuesto, va en linux y MAC. Si las canciones tienen letra, la pone.
